Q: Okay, so, I have a few theories on art in general i'd like answered. Quick and helpful answers will get the points as well as much thanks. - I'm in the seventh grade, meaning I'm only thirteen. :/ I'm fairly talented with a pencil (or so i'm told ;o but, hey, give me a paintbrush and.. yeah XD), and when I look around there's not many people in the seventh grade who can draw/sketch decently. I'm not putting anyone down, or bragging or whatever, but I'm just wondering why there are very little people in middle school who actually umm, how should I put this, /care/ about art, and can actually draw for their lives. Maybe it's an age group thing, or whatever. Just curious. - Anddddd, I've been looking for some good colored pencil tutorials lately. Linkage would be much appreciated. - Like I said before, I cannot paint.. or use pastels.. or mold clay for my life. Although drawing comes easily to me. The only thing I /really/ care about in my Art class is the sketchbook parts. Because of this I nearly failed my last class. Is there any way I can, err, get more 'focused' on the rest? Whew. Now that I'm done, lemme say .. HAVESUMFUNANSERINKWEZTUNZ.
A: I think the best answer to your question about seventh graders is that different people are simply focused on different things. The problem isn't that they don't care about art, but rather that they care a great deal about other things. Now, those other things might be a superficial as making sure that they don't get caught dead shopping at Wal-Mart with mom. But they may also have a passion for music, or writing or acting. The absolute best thing that you can do is to continue your passion for art and constantly improve your skills. As for tutorials, I have a couple of sites for your. One is a site all about the Prismacolor Pencil. It isn't a tutorial site, but it is about colored pencil. One site is a tutorial that I created. It isn't colored pencil, it is graphite. The third site however, is the site of a very good friend of mine that is a fantastic artist with colored pencil and has created many book covers. I think you will learn a great deal from him.
