Q: I'm going for a job interview and I'm just wondering, being that this is a biggie for this job, what is your best method for doing color separations? Any hints or tips would be great. Thanks so much!! PS this would be color separations for jewelry products? Dunno really what that means but hopefully someone out there does! Thanks again!!!
A: I think the important thing to know about CMYK color separations is that the reason why you work with CMYK, is that these are the inks used in printing. The CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and blacK. Designing brochures, ads or working on photos means that you need to learn and understand how to properly design and work with color in the CMYK colorspace. If this is a design job, you will have to be competent in using a layout program, preferably Adobe InDesign CS3. If this is a color correction job for product images, you will be working in Adobe Photoshop.
