Q: Let's say you buy a real great quality pair of big headphones, maybe $60's worth, and you want to customize the outside (the ear part, the band) with colors and patterns. How exactly do you do this? One kind of paint, what kind of sealer, etc? Thanks in advance. There is more to just painting with a brush. Plastic takes certain kinds of paints, spray-ons and all that. I can't just take my acrylics and watercolors at them :)
A: I'd suggest getting the finest grade sandpaper you could find and lightly rough up the surface of the headphones. You can use just standard acrylic paint (Don't use oils) and paint away. After you're done, you can go to any art supply store and buy either a spray can of acrylic paint sealer, or you can buy a small bottle of thick acrylic sealent. Best luck, and remember to keep it out of the sun or the colors will fade.
