Q: I was in a restaurant in Spain and I saw this painting I fell in love with. It was probably about 1x2 metres, maybe oils. To describe it in the most basic way, the shapes were a bit like this - http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/166/paintingvs3.png The figure on the lefts stance kind of gave the impression he had his arms folded quite defiantly, and challenging the others, who seemed to be recoiling in shock, as though he'd just said something they thought was quite rebellious. Just to make it clear - they werent actually people! They were just right-angles with curves between them. So what I said in the previous paragraph was pretty much an interpretation rather than fact. The background was kind of bluey-grey-ish, tinged with red, and the figures were mainly red and brown but other colours as well. So if anyone knows of the artist or painting, or styles that sound like this, that would be really really helpful!
A: If it was an original painting (not a poster) in a restaurant, it was probably a local artist, not someone famous like Picasso or Miro. If that's the case, then it would be really hard to determine who the artist is. But maybe it will ring a bell with someone. If it was a reproduction (kind of unlikely based on the large size), then maybe someone will recognize it from your description. Best of luck.
