what did leonardo da vinci paint the last supper with? not what eh painted it on but what type of pain he used?

Q: yep.. he*********************

A: I'm really sorry to contradict my predecessor, but the famous fresco "The last supper" is not really a fresco. In fact, that technique implied a great rapidity in the realization of the painting. In this case Leonardo used greasy linen oil and egg based tempera, spread on a double layer of dry plaster. The employ of organic material, with the bad conditions of the place (rich of humidity and saltpetre) determined the bad conservation of the painting. I hope this help!
